Job Opening: Senior Planner in Livingston County
/This is professional planning work involving responsibility for the performance of a variety of municipal, regional or community planning assignments which may include responsibility for the administration or coordination of grant funded or state-mandated programs, the design and implementation action of specific planning studies or functioning as team leader for major planning projects. Although the assignment of projects and activity level of assigned projects may vary with time, the class differs from that of Planner in that the projects assigned are usually of greater scope and/or analytic difficulty than those assigned to Planners. The position reports to the Planning Director. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Planning Director or Deputy Planning Director with wide latitude being given in the planning of the details of the work. Supervision is exercised over the work of Planners and other staff on an assigned project. Does related work as required.
Examples of Duties
Conducts research and performs regular staff support work for various County boards, committees, and related work groups including, but not limited to, the County Planning Board, the County Environmental Management Council, the County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, the County Transportation Advisory Committee, and the Conesus Lake Watershed Council;
Prepares and supervises the preparation of a variety of planning statistics, data, plans, designs, charts, advertisements, graphics, land use maps, records and reports required to support planning projects being performed;
Prepares and supervises the preparation of specialized planning projects such as land development, transportation systems, watershed management, infrastructure, community facilities, County agricultural districts renewal, environment, housing, and others;
Provides assistance to municipalities in a variety of areas, including zoning and subdivision laws and procedures, grant applications and administration, and State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), or other planning related municipal activities;
Manages the collection, tabulation and analysis of data for use in connection with census statistics and population reports;
Prepares grant applications and manages moderately complex grant projects;
