Salary: Starting at $55,700, increases to $57,850 after 1 year

Job Description
The Associate Planner will be an integral member of the Planning Department, providing support in the development and implementation of land use policies, comprehensive plans, and development projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of planning initiatives, including planning board administration, environmental planning, and community engagement processes.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and amendment of the comprehensive plan, zoning ordinances, and other planning documents.
Review development proposals, site plans, and subdivision applications
Conduct research and analysis on planning-related topics, including land use, housing, transportation, environmental impact, and demographic trends.
Engage with the community through public meetings, workshops, and hearings to gather input on planning initiatives.
Coordinate with other departments, governmental agencies, and stakeholders on planning projects and issues.
Prepare and present reports to planning boards, and other groups.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, environmental science geography, public administration, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in urban or regional planning, preferred.
Knowledge of planning principles and practices, zoning laws, and comprehensive planning.
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with the public and other stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
AICP certification is a plus, but willing to support candidate and pay for certification after hire.
