2023 CALL FOR FAICP NOMINATIONS
/Do you know a colleague of the APA New York Upstate Chapter who has made significant contributions to the planning profession and a positive impact in the community?
They may be eligible for FAICP nomination!
The Board of the APA New York Upstate Chapter is seeking input regarding potential nominations to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners (FAICP)
Nomination Eligibility:
The minimum requirements for eligibility as a Fellow include:
Member of AICP for at least 10 years (at time of nomination deadline, August 30, 2023).
Member of AICP in good standing (dues paid, CM requirements up to date, and no ethical violations).
Outstanding contribution to the profession over an extended period of time.
FAICP Advisory Committee Informational Webinar
The Chapter will be hosting a webinar on Wednesday, February 15th at 11:30AM. FAICP Advisory Committee members will explain the College of Fellows, FAICP eligibility requirements, application guidelines, the review and selection process, and nominee application responsibilities. Required Chapter FAICP Candidate Submittal Information:
If you know of a fellow New York Upstate Chapter planner who meets the above qualifications and who you believe might be a good candidate for FAICP, please submit their name along with the following supporting information:
The candidate’s name and contact information (phone, email, place of employment);
A narrative statement highlighting the candidate’s greatest accomplishments (one-page maximum, preferably in bullet point format); and
The candidate’s standard or annotated resume.
Submittals must be received by Friday, March 3rd. Early submittals are appreciated.

Nominee Review Process
The APA New York Upstate Chapter FAICP Advisory Committee will follow up on all submittals by contacting the candidates to:
Confirm they meet the minimum eligibility requirements for FAICP;
Confirm they are prepared to commit to the time and effort of preparing the required application for FAICP;
Review each candidate’s submitted narrative, resume and letters of support: and
Recommend a candidate or candidates to the Chapter Board, by March 10, 2023, to be a Chapter nominee(s).
Note: Although this Call for FAICP Nominations is intended to help solicit New York Upstate Chapter AICP members that may become New York Upstate Chapter FAICP nominees, through the Chapter Board, there are alternative paths to FAICP nomination. As established by AICP, other paths to nomination include:
Nomination from an APA Division through an executive committee, awards committee, or a special committee as established by a division;
Nomination from the College of Fellows, through its special nominations committee; or
Nomination from any AICP member, accompanied by the endorsement of nine other (for a total of 10) AICP members in good standing.
